My First Quilt-Along

A long, long, time ago, I didn't have a huge WIP list or idea list, or much of anything except a lot of leftover red and yellow fabric from the massive king-size quilt that I'd made for our bed.  So when I saw the Wishes Quilt-Along pop up in January 2014 I thought it sounded new and fun - an obsession was born!

However, by the end of the year this fell off the radar.  One block a month was slower than I wanted to sew and I had started a lot of other projects.  I finally decided just to call it with the blocks that I had made and add a staggered border that seemed interesting to me.  I also had a brand-new free-motion foot that I wanted to practice with, so this was also the first of my intricately quilted quilts.  I used yellow, red, and navy thread to match the areas I was quilting.  I just love how everything in this quilt pops!
