2021 Monthly Recap: June

June was split into three distinct parts for me this summer: a small vacation to celebrate being vaccinated and hike on new paths; frantically sewing when I got home because I had two quilt top deadlines in a week (the fabric for both came while I was gone!); and lazy time picking things to make small progress on once the tops were done.  What a rush!  My WIP count went up this month, but I'm not worried - two quilts are in binding stage and one is almost ready to be basted so things are moving along nicely.

Quilts Finished
Challenger Quilt (June 2021) - A bonus layout for the 2021 100 Days Challenge

Quilts Started
Summer Scrap Quilt - I've been wanting to make a rail fence quilt forever, and when I saw this version in the last issue of Make Modern magazine (affiliate link) I knew it was time. I add a single plus each time I go down to sew (no rules, just whatever I feel like adding, sometimes the kids pick a fabric). It's fun to have a mini low-stress project going!

Trinket Remix - No actual Trinket blocks, but the feature fabric has the Trinket blocks printed in miniature and all of the fabric used in the top is Alison Glass as well!  It just came back from the longarm quilter's yesterday and the the binding is already attached, but I need a few days to get the hand-stitching part done.

Quilt Progress (5 WIPs touched)
Mother - Two blocks added. My family is in love with the melting ice caps block but not impressed by the air pollution one. "It's a nice fade, Mom, but it doesn't look like air pollution." Oh well, at least my fabric selection is on point!

In addition to the Trinket Remix quilt I started this month, Scrappy Diamonds also has the binding sewn to the front!  I haven't shared the full version of either of these quilts yet, but I'm looking forward to being able to do so!

I don't have a picture (because it's too boring at this point), but the back of my Sparrow Party quilt is going together today!  This is the last top in my finished top backlog and I'm excited to nudge it off of the WIP list finally!  Most of the back is an Alexander Henry print with a date of 2004 on the selvedge, a full 7 years before I really started sewing or quilting - no idea where it came from but it feels good to use it!

Blocks made for both my memory scrap quilt and leaders and enders quilt.

Miscellaneous Accomplishments
I completely missed my Easter goal for the Hello, Petal cross-stitch project, but I did finish stitching it last month and it was my first finish of this month!  I'm ready for next year!
