2025 Q2 Goal Recap

It's summer again!  It was snowing out when I published my Q2 goals and today it was sunny and hot!  I'm spending time outside biking and walking and time inside bowling.  I didn't work on a lot of different projects this quarter, but I finished two old WIPS which is always a joy.

A look back at my goals for Q2:

2025 Q2 Goal 1: Start a New Leaders and Enders Project
I started a new one and it's also blue! Instead of a four patch design, I'm doing a coin layout with blue and low volume scraps.  I'm currently piecing them into sets of four, then planning on turning them into blocks of eight before sewing the whole top together.  This one isn't worried about unique fabrics (I'm cutting as many rectangles as possible from each piece of fabric) so I'm hoping to finish it in significantly less time.

And then, I started a second leaders and enders quilt.  I'll be honest, for a while I was just working on the two of these in tandem while I got them established, but that settled down and I'm using them "as intended" now.  This one is called Amelia and it is a scrappy half-square triangle quilt!

2025 Q2 Goal 2: Miniature Zephyr
I succeeded in making my mini Zephyr and submitting it to the quilt show! It was accepted into the judged category for modern and while it didn't win a prize, it was very fun to see it hang!

2025 Q2 Goal 3: Cross-Stitch Tutorial
I failed on this goal.  I only finished one mini cross-stitch quilt this quarter, and I really wanted to display it so I didn't take the time to photograph the steps to make it into a mini quilt.  After that, I started a larger project that I'm still stitching away on.  I am sitting on this goal and keeping it as a "2025 deferred goal".

2025 Q2 Goal 4: The Rest of the Quilt Back
After six months of staring at this quilt top on my quilt storage bed, I decided I was never going to make a decision on how to quilt it.  So I pieced together a back from all my flannel scraps and sent it to the longarm quilter with the instructions "surprise me, I trust you".  The result is a finished quilt!

2025 Q2 Goal 5 (Long Shot Goal): Summer Sampler 2019
Still untouched.

Finished Quilts
Three of my four quilt finishes this quarter.  The fourth is a test quilt for a new pattern that I'm not quite ready to share yet.

Quilt Along Updates
I actually haven't started any again this quarter! I'm enjoying sewing at my own pace for right now. I have printed off the final set of instructions for Pooh Corner and I'm working my way through final assembly, despite not having all the blocks done yet. I laid them out just to take a photo for this blog post and it's fun to see everything together for the first time!  The next step is to embroider Owl's glasses, which I for some reason skipped when I was making the block.

Night of the Frost Dragon

Arctic Animals - My 2024 stitch-along project is stitched!  I kept up with the clues this time around and finished on schedule.  This is a little too big to make into a cross-stitch quilt so I may try framing and mounting it.

Coastal Peaks - A subscription box finish.  Photographed at my local beach, which had not been cleaned up for the summer yet when I finished it in late April.

Night of the Frost Dragon - I wanted to do a larger project and I chose this one from a designer I haven't stitched from before.  I'm enjoying the new style and the purple Aida!  This was originally sold as a stitch-along, but I purchased the pattern right at the end so I had the whole thing at once.

BluePip News
I wasn't planning to release anything this quarter, but inspiration struck and I worked on two different patterns.

Pin Banner is my first project pattern in a while - it is a small banner that can be used to display enamel pins, magnetic needle minders, a varsity letter, or a combination of things.  My mother-in-law is adding a denim star to hers to make it a Fourth of July decoration!  This wasn't even on my radar when I wrote my Q1 goals, so finishing it and publishing it is a happy surprise.

The second pattern is a traditionally pieced pictorial block quilt.  There are two different blocks included and one of them is jelly roll friendly (not intentionally, just a nice side benefit).  I'm not quite ready to share, but I am hoping to have this one finished by the end of Q3.

Goals for 2025 Q3
I'm gong easy on the goals this time around - I barely had any time to sew in June and I don't think July and August will be any better. I spend a lot of time with my family enjoying the sunshine!

1. Release my new pictorial quilt block pattern.  My sewing and computer time is sporadic in the summer time, but Q3 ends in September so I'm planning for an end-of-quarter release.

2. Finish my Pooh Corner quilt.  The final directions were released June 1st, so technically the QAL is over as of July 1st and I'm behind.

3. (Carryover goal) If I finish another mini cross-stitch piece, take the time to write up a finishing tutorial.

4. (Carryover goal) It doesn't seem like it, but I do really want to finish my 2019 Summer Sampler, and hey, it's summer again, so the perfect time, right?  I would love to knock another old WIP off my list.

And that's all for today!  I'm linking up my goals with Yvonne at Quilting JetGirl before I head outside for an early morning bike ride!

It's always such a treat to get to check in with everyone and enjoy seeing their beautiful work. Congratulations on all you have accomplished so far this year, and may the summer be full of fun both outside and creatively when you have the time to work on your goals!
