Marble Mystery Quilt

It's March and that means it's time for another Meadow Mist Designs mystery quilt reveal!  Can you believe that this is the fifth mystery quilt designed by Cheryl that I've made?

This year's pattern was called the Marble Mystery Quilt, and I enjoyed getting the instructions on the first Thursday of each month.  After a little bit of prep work they made excellent leader and ender blocks for my other projects (especially all of those flying geese!).  Most of my other mystery quilts have been scrappy, but this time I actually started off with the correct yardage in my own chosen colorway.

I backed the quilt with a purple wideback that I had in my stash - it was exactly the right width so I think I bought it to get free shipping earlier this year when placing a different order.  I normally label fabric that I buy so far ahead of time, but this one was flying free so maybe it was just a nice coincidence.  I quilted it myself with a simple gray meander, my go-to for a fast, easy finish that matches everything.  But my absolute favorite finishing touch is the two-tone binding.  I wanted to add more of the orange color from the quilt top into the quilt, but didn't have enough to do the full binding.  So the corners are bound in one of the teals and each side has an off-center piece of orange binding! I almost always do dark bindings on my quilts, but these light colors were much easier on my eyes when I was binding in front of the TV at night and I love the way the alternating pattern looks.

Thank you to Cheryl for another fun pattern!  I am happy to be a sponsor for this year's QAL and if you didn't win but would still like one of my patterns, you can use the code MARBLE for 10% off all patterns through March 10th (excludes Tula Pink destash fabric, valid at www.bluepipdesigns.com only).  Thanks for stopping by!
