2026 Q2 Goal Recap

I knew this wasn't going to be a big sewing quarter due to my son's graduation and then I was injured and spent the very first day of it in Urgent Care getting five stitches in my right index finger (not a sewing injury).  I took advantage of this time to get my sewing machine's annual maintenance done and learned that spring is a more popular time for that than fall is.  But I'm happy to report that today my finger is completely healed, my machine is home, my son has graduated, and I'm back on a "regular" summer sewing schedule!

Quilt Tally
WIP List to Start the Quarter: 9
WIP List to End the Quarter: 10
Active QAL Projects: 2
Untouched in 2026: 4
Finished in Q2: 2 quilts, 3 cross-stitch projects, 4 small projects

Let's jump right in and look at how I did with my Q2 Goals:

2026 Q2 Goal 1: Finish Blue Coin
Done.  Once I pulled this back out, I was able to finish the quilting in a single afternoon and bind it in a couple of days.  I just needed to make time and prioritize it.

2026 Q2 Goal 2: Halloween Snowglobes
Nope.  I don't know why finishing these cross-stitches done on paper is so intimidating, but it is.  I was hoping that the guilt of not completing a goal would push me to finish these last minute, but I'm deep in quilting my elephant quilt now and working on anything else is just unappealing.  I'll leave it on the list and hope that Halloween 2026 is enough of an incentive to finish.

2026 Q2 Goal 3: Finish the Farm Fresh Quilt
Done.  Keeping up with a QAL for the entire time is a rarity for me, but I stuck with it and did it!  This is my second two-sided quilt of the year and I'm delighted with how it turned out.  Unfortunately, much like the first two-sided quilt of the year, I have a road trip destination in mind for the final quilt photos which means the blog post is delayed as well.

Quilt Along Updates
I made the fourth and final compass block for my Under the Sea quilt and started the Peter Pan quilt, which is completely up-to-date, as a reward.  I also started a scrappy Oh, Granny quilt, which I saw in someone else's Q1 Goal Recap post (I didn't save the link and I should have - I'm sorry!).  I didn't know a quilt along was starting when I decided to do it, but there was so it's on the QAL list now.

Quilt Finishes
It feels very unbalanced to have more cross-stitch finishes than quilt finishes, but that's how it goes this month. My Blue Coin quilt is shown above, but I also have two smaller projects to share.  First, I made these adorable cat potholders for a friend's birthday.  They are from the leftover layer cake squares of the baby Cudddlekiss quilt.

Next, I made a Pin Banner by special request:

New Quilts
About two years ago, I came across the pattern that I used when I made my first quilt.  I bought some fabric to remake it and set it all aside in my "someday" pile.  Well, someday came.  I was able to piece the top in just a few days and now I'm playing with custom quilting it on my domestic machine.

Cross Stitch
There was so much cross-stitch this quarter - with my machine in the shop and busy days, it was a relief just to sit on the couch at the end of the night and do a little handwork.

That Really Burns My Toast

Oh, Froggy

Flight of the Flock

That Really Burns My Toast - One of those things you see on Instagram and then have to make immediately. This is displayed in my family room and makes me smile every time I look at it.

Oh, Froggy - Another kit finish. 18 years ago, I was pretty cartoon frog neutral, but then Carter's made frogs their animal of the year for all baby clothing and I veered over into the anti-frog territory. That baby just graduated from high school and when this kit arrived I felt like it was a good conclusion to his childhood years (and it was a really fun stitch too!).

Flight of the Flock - I adore all the patterns in this book. The full coverage and geometic patterns are so much fun.

BluePip News
Cat and Mouse Floppy at MN Quilt Show - My mother-in-law and I made this together as a tester quilt for the Floppy pattern and we liked it so much we decided to enter it into a quilt show.

I also wrote a free tutorial for my method of making the Blue Coin quilt.

Finally, I'm working on getting wholesale accounts up and running, but in the meantime, if you own a quilt shop, please contact me directly if you are interested in buying wholesale print patterns.  I also have a few spaces left for tech editing yet this summer if you have a pattern of your own that you want another set of eyes on!

Goals for 2026 Q3
1. Halloween Snowglobes - a carryover goal.  I can do this!

2. Honeypot Sampler - this is the third and final set of "kid blocks" that I have laying around in my sewing room.  I've accepted that the kids are never going to sew with me again and I need to finish these journeys for them solo.

3. Finish the last block for the Under the Sea quilt top and sew the top together.  I haven't decided yet if I'm going to quilt this myself or send it out, but just getting the top complete this quarter will be a good accomplishment.

4. Decide on the next pattern for BluePip Designs.  I have sketches all over the place and just need to commit to something!

That's all for now!  I'm linking up my list with Mell at Mell Meyer.  Thanks for stopping by!
